Minnesota (i/mɪnᵻˈsoʊtə/; locally
[ˌmɪnəˈso̞ɾə]) is a state in the Midwestern United States. Minnesota was admitted as the 32nd state on May 11, 1858, created from the eastern half of the Minnesota Territory. The name comes from the Dakota word for "clear blue water". Owing to its large number of lakes, the state is informally known as the "Land of 10,000 Lakes". Its official motto is L'Étoile du Nord (French: Star of the North).
Minnesota is the 12th largest in area and the 21st most populous of the U.S. States; nearly 60 percent of its residents live in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area (known as the "Twin Cities"), the center of transportation, business, industry, education, and government and home to an internationally known arts community. The remainder of the state consists of western prairies now given over to intensive agriculture; deciduous forests in the southeast, now partially cleared, farmed and settled; and the less populated North Woods, used for mining, forestry, and recreation.
The Minnesota Discovery Center, formerly known as Ironworld Discovery Center and originally as the Iron Range Interpretive Center, opened in the 1977 outside Chisholm, Minnesota, United States. It showcases northeastern Minnesota's "history and future" and includes a museum, entertainment venue, research library and park. The site offers various community programs and events including Polka fests, concerts, and fairs. The property also includes the Iron Man statue, and a memorial to Rudy Perpich and holds historical documents and artifacts related to mining in the Iron Range.
The 660-acre (270 ha) museum complex opened in 1977 as the Iron Range Interpretive Center with 34 exhibits and was renamed in 1984 as Ironworld USA. In 2009 it became the Minnesota Discovery Center.
It was built to celebrate the immigrants who built Minnesota's Iron Range mining region, including Italians, Finns, and Yugoslavs. It was supposed to draw tourists from around the state and other parts of the U.S., but in the late 1990s was struggling to live up to attendance expectations.

The Iron Range is an informal and unofficially designated region that makes up the northeastern section of Minnesota in the United States. It is a region with multiple distinct bands of iron ore. The far eastern area, containing the Duluth Complex along the shore of Lake Superior, and the far northern area, along the Canadian border, of the region are not associated with iron ore mining. Due to its shape, the area is collectively referred to as the Arrowhead region of the state.
The area consists of seven counties: Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, and Saint Louis.
From a geological perspective, the Iron Range in Minnesota includes these four major iron deposits:

In 1898, near Kensington, Minnesota, a discovery was made that could have changed American History forever. A large runestone pertained to tell of a group of Scandinavian explorers from Norway and Sweden who had come under attack from the local natives in the year 1362. If true this would be possible evidence for continued Norse habitation in North America and yet more European contact with the New World before Christopher Columbus. Yet there are severe doubts about the authenticity of the stone as there are several problems in a number of fields concerning it. 5 Top-Rated Tourist Attractions in Minneapolis, United States Minneapolis and St Paul, the Twin Cities on the upper course of the Mississippi, together form the largest city in Minnesota. Minneapolis is the quintessence of the glistening modern American city. The city has extensive parks and green spaces, and is also the commercial centre of one of the largest farming areas in the United States. The city grew out of two mills built at the St Anthony Falls in 1847. Although this was Indian country, other settlements soon followed, and these displaced the Indians, whose reservation was moved elsewhere. The city's name comes from the Indian word minne, meaning water, and the Greek polis, meaning city. Let's see five tourist attractions in Minneapolis, Minnesota 1. Minnehaha Park 2. Minneap...

Norway 2016 – Video 20 of 21 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppmWeAcMhaA&list=PLapnpS7sdpP2ITd9Ecjpo6-ySLJX9Ljd- My great grandparents, Peder and Marit Imsdahl came from Imsdalen, a remote valley located north of Lillehammer in Oppland County Norway. In the 1880s, they immigrated to a small farming community in west central Minnesota. Back in the early 1970s, my Uncle Bob and Aunt Annabel were friends with a family who had a foreign exchange student from Norway that went to New London High school in Minnesota. The exchange student’s name is Einar Odden, and his wife's name is Bodil. Today they live north of Lillehammer, not far from Imsdalen. Einar is a journalist for the Gudbrandsdølen Dagningen, a Norwegian newspaper published in Lillehammer. He knows a lot about the history of Imsdale...
The History of Minnesota and Tales of the Frontier, Part 1 by Charles E. Flandrau (1828 - 1903). Published 1900. Here's the text. https://www.youtube.com/upload Until a very few years ago it has been generally accepted as a fact that Louis Hennepin, a Franciscan priest of the Recollect Order, was the first white man who entered the present boundaries of Minnesota; but a recent discovery has developed the fact that there has reposed in the archives of the Bodleian Library and British Museum for more than two hundred years manuscript accounts of voyages made as far back as 1652 by two Frenchmen, named respectively Radison and Groselliers, proving that they traveled among the North American Indians from the last named date to the year 1684, during which time they visited what is now Minnes...
The World was completely covered in giants on every continent before and after modern man appeared on the scene. The Proof is everywhere, or was. On every continent, all (remains) were confiscated and vanished. ALL! In one case in America, 60 skeletons 10 to 12 feet tall were found in a cave by some farmers. Every single one vanished. And in their place were put fake artifacts and the heights were changed to between 6 and 8 feet, everywhere. Only old stories of eye witnesses are left to dispute the “Official Story”. There are records hidden in local archives and dusty Smithsonian reports are accounts that are all but forgotten to North American historians and scientists: accounts of giant (7 to 9 feet tall) skeletons discovered all across the country, many buried under earthen mounds. End Credit Music written by Richard Tuttle and arranged by Karl B. Swenson The flood of 1997 was both tragic and inspiring. The tragedy of losing power, evacuating homes and leaving our community…the uncertainty of it all. Left on our own, we never would have been able to recover and rebuild. Yet, our story is also inspiring. Ordinary people did extraordinary things. People from all different walks of life came together for a common cause and what emerged was a stronger sense of community than we ever knew before. It is by no means an exhaustive recount ...

This is a documentary about the February 4, 1984 blizzard that ravaged the Red River Valley of eastern North Dakota and north west Minnesota. It was painstakingly converted (my in-experience) to digital format from a 25 year old VHS tape, probably recorded with one of the first generation VHS VCR's, played back on a slightly more modern version... through my Sony Handycam to my old (slow) Mac Mini captured using iMovie '08! Efforts were made to contact the original owner of the copyright, but it proved unsuccessful. Company does not appear to be in existence anymore. I posted this video for informational purposes only.
